A MONUMENTAL ICON OF CHRIST ENTHRONED FROM A CHURCH ICONOSTASIS Russian, Yaroslavl, 17th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The Saviour seated on a throne making a blessing gesture with his right hand and holding the book of Gospels with his left hand, painted within a blue oval mandorla, encircled by Seraphim, in the corners the four symbols of the Evangelists. The background and border stripped to gesso, vertical crack restored. 122 x 88.3 cm.
