A VERY LARGE ICON SHOWING THE MOTHER OF GOD AVGUSTOVSKAYA Russian, after 1915 Oil on gessoed wood panel. The border gilded and incised to resemble a chased gilded silver and enamel oklad. The icon showing the Mother of God Augustovskaya commemorating the apparition of the Virgin to Russian troops during World War I before the victorious Battle of Augustov. Restorations. 53 x 43.8 cm.
