JOHN THE FORERUNNER WITH SCENES FROM HIS LIFE AND SILVER OKLAD Russian, 17th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Dmitriy Orlov, 1869 (oklad) Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Painted against a golden background. The silver oklad chased with scrolling ornament and strapwork. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'DO' in Cyrillic. Restorations, the edges chipped. 31.4 x 26.7 cm.
