AN ICON SHOWING ST. NICHOLAS OF MOZHAISK WITH SILVER-GILT OKLAD Russian, mid 18th century (icon), Moscow, Petr Antonov, mid 18th century (oklad) Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The saint shown frontally in full-length bearing a sword and a church flanked by his Nativity and Baptism. Overlaid with a silver-gilt oklad finely chased and repousse with scrolling foliage and fruits. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark 'VA' in Cyrillic and master's mark 'AP' in Cyrillic. Minimally restored. 31.5 x 28.6 cm.
