VIOLIN MODELED AFTER 'MATHIAS HORNSTEINER' German, 19th century Two-piece spruce top and one-piece maple back, inlaid border around the entire instrument, light brown varnish. 4/4 violin, length 60 cm, body length 36.5 cm. Violin label: "Mathias Hornsteiner, violin maker, court blacksmith in Mittenwald on the Iser, Anno 1804." Part. bumped and rubbed, damg. Provenance: Private collection, Southern Germany.
