VIOLIN 'M. COUTURIEUX' AND VIOLIN BOW Mirecourt, circa 1900 Two-piece spruce top and maple back, brown varnish; includes case. 4/4 violin, total length 59.3 cm, body length 35.9 cm. Label: 'Lutherie Artistique / M. Couturieux'. The renowned Mirecourt workshop Laberte-Humbert Frères marketed high-quality commercial instruments under the name "M. Couturieux" around 1900. The designation "Lutherie Artistique" appears on numerous instruments in this quality range. Violin bow, early 20th century; round stick, simple eye, winding, thumb leather, bone head plate, unmarked, length 74.3 cm, part bumped. Violin shows minor wear; rest.
