VIOLIN LABELED 'PETRUS GUARNERIUS' AND TWO VIOLIN BOWS* German or French, circa 1890 Two-piece spruce top and maple back, light brown varnish; includes case. 4/4 violin; total length 59.5 cm, body length 35.9 cm. Label: 'Petrus Guarnerius filius Joseph Cremonensis fecit Venetijs anno 17..'. Violin in the Maggini style featuring double purfling; back richly decorated with a central mosaic medallion (mother-of-pearl inlay), a lyre, and floral ornaments, as well as rosettes at the lower bouts and corners of both top and back. Two violin bows, early 20th century; each with round stick, simple eye, thumb leather, and ivory tip plate; lengths 72.5 cm and 74 cm; part. bumped and rubbed, Violin part bumped and minor damg. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse. CITES marketing certificate is available.
