VIOLIN SIGNED 'CESARE TOROSSI,' 'AMATI' MODEL Italy, ca. 1844 One-piece spruce top and maple back, light brown-reddish varnish. 4/4 violin, length 59, body width 35.6 cm. Violin label: 'Cesare Tonossi in Novara, l'anno 1844'. Fine Italian violin of unknown origin, made around 1844 after the Amati model. Part. bumped and rubbed; restored; closed crack in the top. Provenance: Private collection, Belgium.
