'HIS MASTER'S VOICE' HORN GRAMOPHONE England, probably c. 1915 Hexagonal wooden cabinet with glass panels; plaque featuring 'Nipper' the terrier listening to the gramophone. Height approx. 75 cm. Mechanism marked on the underside: 'Manufactured by The Gramophone Co. Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex, 271 D'. Mechanical spring-driven motor with hand crank (crank included); pivoting tone arm with nickel-plated sound box (marked 'His Master's Voice SOUND BOX'); swiveling, fluted brass horn; includes one shellac record. Some repairs and signs of age-related wear; runs when wound. Provenance: Private collection in the Rhineland.
