Description
TIPLE South America (probably Colombia), 20th century. Arched body constructed from strips; spruce soundboard with inlaid rosette; metal tuning mechanism; 12-string; bone tuning pegs; includes case. Length approx. 69 cm. The tiple is a characteristic plucked instrument of the Andean region and is widely played-particularly in Colombia-as both an accompanying and a solo instrument. Shows some signs of rubbing and minor impact marks. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
