RARE SMALL MANDOLIN WITH THERMOMETER Germany, ca. 1900 Wooden body with sound hole, brass rosette and bridge, four steel strings, neck with attached glass thermometer and scale in Réaumur and Fahrenheit. Length approx. 43 cm. Around 1900, artfully crafted miniature instruments enjoyed great popularity and were produced-particularly in the instrument-making regions of Saxony and the Black Forest-as high-quality, handcrafted works of art. Partially restored and in good condition. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
