HENRI SELMER 'RADIO IMPROVED' SAXOPHONE Paris, 1935 Brass, silver-plated, original mechanism, richly engraved bell with floral decoration. Height approx. 82 cm. Marked on the bell: 'Radio Improved, Henri Selmer Paris, H. Selmer, 4 Place Dancourt Paris, No. 20478, SSS'. The 'Radio Improved' model was manufactured by Henri Selmer Paris between 1934 and 1936 and is considered one of the most significant pre-war saxophones. It represents the immediate developmental stage preceding the legendary Balanced Action and, due to its outstanding intonation, responsiveness, and sound quality, is considered one of the most sought-after vintage saxophones of all time. Shows signs of wear due to age; silver plating with slight signs of wear; functionality not tested. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
