LUDWIG HÖFER 1899 - after 1974 VIOLIN, 'JOSEF GUARNERIUS DEL GESU' MODEL Cologne, 1934 One-piece spruce top and maple back; light brown-orange varnish; includes case. 4/4 size; total length 59.4 cm, body length 36 cm. Labels: 'Ludwig Höfer Fecit Coloniae Anno 1934 V' and 'LH' brand stamp. Ludwig Höfer (1899-after 1974) ran a renowned violin-making workshop in Cologne-Nippes and crafted high-quality string instruments based on classical models. A fine master violin by the Cologne maker, crafted in 1934 based on a model by Giuseppe Antonio Guarneri. Min. bumped. Literature: Cf.
