Description
HULUSI China, 20th/21st century Wind instrument made of a painted gourd with three bamboo pipes and metal ferrules; red decorative tassel. Length approx. 45 cm. In a fitted hard-shell case. Central melody pipe with finger holes; lateral drone pipes. The hulusi originates from Yunnan Province and is particularly common among the Dai, Yi, and Miao ethnic minorities. Minor rubbed and bumped. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
