DOTAR (LONG-NECKED LUTE) Iran or Central Asia, 20th century Pear-shaped body made of dark wood with a long neck. Soundboard with sound holes arranged in a dotted pattern, each framed by bone inlays. Length: 113 cm. The dotar originally had two strings (do = two, tar = string). Partially bumped and damg. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
