Slightly browned. Framed under glass (unopened). The present studies are related to works by Louis Davis created for St. Anselm's Church in Hatch End, Middlesex, England. Louis Davis was an important British watercolourist, illustrator, and stained glass artist, closely associated with the Arts and Crafts movement. He is regarded as one of the leading figures in British stained glass of his time and was often referred to as 'the last of the Pre-Raphaelites.' For St. Anselm's Church, Davis designed and executed several stained glass windows, including representations of angels. Comparable designs and preparatory studies for these window cycles are today held, among other collections, in the William Morris Gallery. Provenance: Private collection.
