RICHARD PAULI 1855 Chicago - 1892 Morris Plains 'KNIGHT TEMPLAR'* Chryselephantine figure; bronze with cold-painted silver finish and brown patina; face carved from ivory; mounted on a square plinth and marble base (plinth height 11 cm). Total dimensions: H 63.5 cm, W 26.5 cm, D 24 cm. Signed 'R. Pauli' on the plinth; bears the foundry mark 'R. u. M.'. A finely detailed statuette of a medieval Knight Templar in full armor, including a chainmail coif, hauberk, knee guards, and spurs. Over his armor, he wears a long mantle bearing a cross pattée; a matching cross emblem also appears on his shield. He holds a lowered double-edged sword in his right hand and supports a large triangular shield with his left. Part. bumped and rubbed, loss of paint; sword broken. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community.
