AUGUSTE RODIN 1840 Paris - 1917 Meudon (after) 'TÊTE DE BALZAC' Art cast, black patina, on a pedestal. H. 24, W. 18.5, D. 13 cm, weight approx. 4.14 kg. Signed 'A. Rodin' on the back, foundry mark 'Alexis Rudier Fondeur Paris' on the underside, posthumous casting. Head study of the French writer Honoré de Balzac, originally created as part of Rodin's monumental Balzac monument with hair flowing freely around the head and deep-set eyes. Partially rubbed.
