HANS HUGGLER-WYSS 1877 Brienz - 1947 Interlaken SLEEPING DOBERMAN 1913 Bronze, dark patina, on a rectangular plinth. H. 37, W. 15, D. 13 cm; weight approx. 9.98 kg. Inscribed 'H. Huggler' and dated '1913' on the plinth; includes the Strassacker Kunstguss Süssen foundry mark and the RAL quality mark for art casting. Finely executed depiction of a sleeping guard dog in a tranquil pose. The naturalistic modeling and carefully rendered details lend the figure a particularly intimate quality. Hans Huggler-Wyss is counted among the renowned Swiss sculptors of the 20th century and was particularly esteemed for his high-quality animal sculptures. Part. bumped and rubbed, loss of paint.
