Description
FRANZ IFFLAND 1862 Berlin - 1935 Berlin PAIR OF ALLEGORICAL FIGURES: 'SPRING AND SUMMER' Bronze, dark patina, each on a base. Total height 24/24.5 cm. Inscribed 'F. Iffland' and '1886' on the back. A pair of fully modeled putti representing the seasons. Depicted are a boy with a straw hat and sheaves of grain as an allegory of Summer, and a girl with an apron full of blossoms as an allegory of Spring. Minor rubbing and nicks; drill holes on the side of the boy figure; bases damaged.
