Inscription on the back 'Rodin' and marked 'BK-RAC, 1986, 254/760', posthumous casting after the original from the Musée Rodin in Paris. One of the most iconic designs of modernism: A powerfully muscular man sits on a rock leaning forward, his chin resting on his fist - in deep physical and mental tension. Rodin's Thinker was originally conceived as part of the monumental portal La Porte de l'Enfer (The Gates of Hell), inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. Min. rubbed.
