CARL KAUBA 1865 Vienna - 1922 ibid 'LA PÊCHE MIRACULEUSE' Viennese bronze, dark and golden patina, partially silver-plated, on a naturalistic plinth. H. 12, W. 23, D. 21 cm, weight approx. 2.74 kg. Titled 'La Pêche Miraculeuse' on the front, inscribed 'K.Thenn' behind the fisherman on the back and foundry mark 'Copyright Thenn Vienna' on the plinth. Detailed mechanical erotic figure from the work of Carl Kauba: Two fishermen pull a heavily laden net out of the water, a folding mechanism reveals a gilded female nude inside - possibly an allegorical representation based on a Christian model (Miraculous Draught of Fishes). La Pêche Miraculeuse is one of the rarer motifs in Kauba's catalog of works. Partial loss of patina and some wear.
