ETHA RICHTER 1883 Dresden - 1977 Dresden LARGE ELEPHANT Bronze, dark patina, on an oval plinth and rectangular marble base (H. 7 cm). Total height 43.5 cm, width 34 cm, depth 18 cm. Signed 'Etha Richter' and inscribed 'Dresden' on the plinth; foundry stamp "Guss v. Pirner u. Franz, Dresden" on the side. Fully modeled, naturalistic depiction of a standing elephant with a massive body and distinctively rendered skin texture. The head is slightly lowered, the trunk hanging loosely downwards. Minor rubbing. Provenance: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
