SALVATORE MELANI Active in France, 1902-1934 'FEMME AU LÉVRIER' (Lady with Greyhound) Bronze, with dark patina and polychrome painting; face carved from imitation ivory. H. approx. 42 cm, L. 59 cm, D. 16.5 cm. Signed 'S. Melani' on the back of the skirt. An elegant Art Deco figural group depicting a fashionably dressed young woman with a slender greyhound. The lady's elongated, stylized silhouette and the elegant body of the animal combine to form a balanced composition. Part. bumped and rubbed, loss of paint.
