DEMETRE HARALAMB CHIPARUS 1888 Dorohoi, Romania - 1947 Paris (after) 'DOURGA' (STANDING DANCER)* France, early 20th century Chryselephantine, bronze, light patina; face, hands, and body carved from ivory, on an onyx base (H. 16.5 cm). Total H. 61, W. 18, D. 12 cm, weight approx. 7.39 kg. Inscribed on the base: 'DH Chiparus,' after the original by Chiparus. Partial loss of patina and retouched Literature: See Alberto Shayo: Chiparus - Master of Art Deco, Woodbridge 1993. CITES marketing certificate is available.
