OTTMAR OBERMAIER (ALSO OBERMEIER) 1883 Inzell (Upper Bavaria) - 1965 Munich DISCUS THROWER 1909 Bronze, dark patina, on a tall plinth. H. 65, W. 33, D. 26 cm; weight approx. 10.78 kg. Inscribed 'O. Obermeier' and dated '09' on the plinth. Fully modeled nude figure of a muscular athlete in a powerful, slightly twisted pose; he holds a discus in his raised hand, while the opposite arm is extended forward. Minor nicks and abrasions; loss of patina.
