MAX LE VERRIER 1891 Neuilly-sur-Seine - 1973 Paris 'ART DECO PIERROT'* Chryselephantine, bronze, green and dark patina, face carved from ivory, on rectangular plinth (H. 4 cm). Total H. 46, W. 21, D. 11 cm, weight approx. 7.17 kg. Signed 'M. Le Verrier' on the plinth. Expressive representation of Pierrot, the iconic figure of the Commedia dell'arte. The figure stands with legs apart in a confident pose, wearing a robe with a distinctive collar and three buttons as well as the typical cap, his hands casually tucked into his pockets. Partially rubbed and loss of patina, slight scratch marks on the plinth and on the back of the leg. Provenance: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia. CITES marketing certificate is available.
