Description
HUA GUAN (AFTER), A PAINTING DEPICTING NIAN GENGYAO China, Qing Dynasty Ink and color on silk, mounted on paper. 48.5x172 cm. The painting depicts the famous military commander during the early Qing Dynasty sitting on a large bench covered with plush blanket under a tree. To his left, two servants are grooming a black-and-white horse. The painting is signed on the left "Songling Zhong Xi mo" and with two unrecognizable seals. With traces of age, partially damaged. Provenance: From the collection of the German Indologist Hermann Jacobi (1850-1937), acquired in China in early 20th century, then by descent within the family.
