Description
A BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF SHAKYAMUNI China, Ming Dynasty Bronze. H. ca. 29 cm. Shakyamuni is seated in dhyanasana with the right hand in bhumisparsha mudra and the left hand in dhyana mudra. The figure is dressed in robe with finely chased floral patterns along the hems, with a swastika on the chest. Wheel of Dharma (dharmachakra) motifs are visible on the palms and soles. With traces of age and gilding, partially damaged; signs of moisture exposure visible inside the interior. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
