A JADE CARVING OF A RECLINING WATER BUFFALO China, probably Ming or early Qing Dynasty Jade. L. 20.3 cm. The reclining animal is naturalistically modeled, the front and hind legs are elegantly pushed next to and under the strong body accentuated by a pronounced spine, the tail is curved to the right and the head is turned backwards. With traces of age, partially abraded and cracked.
