A PAINTED ENAMEL 'EUROPEAN SUBJECT' SNUFF BOTTLE China, Qing Dynasty Copper alloy. H. 6.1 cm. The snuff bottle is finely painted, delicately depicting European ladies on each side. The base bears a four-character mark "Qianlong Nian Zhi". The gilt-metal stopper is cast in relief with a lotus flower. With traces of use and age, partially stained. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
