Description
A SATSUMA RETICULATED OVOID VASE Japan, late Meiji period Ceramic. H. 16.2 cm. The vase carved with a pierced openwork ground, with two panels finely decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt, depicting beauties with attendants enjoying cherry blossoms, and mandarin ducks among flowers. The shoulder, foot, and the band linking the panels are richly adorned with floral motifs. Signed on the underside Ryozan, together with the Yasuda Company mark and the Shimazu family mark. With traces of use and age, partially abraded.
