EINE DECKELDOSE MIT JADE-EINLAGE IN ROLLENFORM AUS HOLZ
Description
A JADE-INSET WOOD SCROLL-FORM BOX AND COVER China, Qing Dynasty Wood/Jade. L. 24.5 cm. The box is finely carved as three stacked scrolls, with the sides meticulously carved to imitate the scroll ends and a jade plaque inlaid at the center of both the front and back of each scroll. Made of black-brown wood, it is decorated in relief with a continuous wan-pattern (swastika pattern) and each scroll features a title plaque inlaid with light gray jade. With traces of age, partially cracked. Provenance: From an old private collection in the southern part of North Rhine-Westphalia.
