EIN TORSO DER UMA AUS SANDSTEIN

A SANDSTONE TORSO OF UMA Cambodia, probably 11th/12th century Sandstone. H. 70 cm (inclusive base). The voluptuous figure standing in samabhanga, with broad, angular shoulders and rounded breasts, and a slightly indented navel. A finely pleated sampot is draped around the hips, secured with a broad belt, falling in finely incised parallel pleats. With traces of age, partially chipped and stained. Provenance: From a private collection in Köln.
