EIN SIDPAHO THANGKA

A SIDPAHO THANGKA China (Tibet), 19th/20th century Distemper on cloth, under glass. 36x24 cm. The protective chart is painted with a turtle with Mewa-Gu, the nine magic numbers at center, surrounded by eight Chinese trigrams and encircled by the zodiac cycle, flanked by protective seals. At the top center is Manjushri, accompanied by Mahakala and Shakakshari Lokeshvara. Beside the figures are Kalachakra mantra and the seal of Padmasambhava as a set of multi-colored squares with auspicious verses. Below the turtle are two smaller mandala circles and lists of various planetary and the system of astrology on a yellow reserve. The back is fully inscribed. With traces of age, partially damaged. Provenance: From an old private collection in South Germany.
