Description
A BLACK AND GOLD LACQUER FOUR-CASE INRO Japan, 18th/19th century Lacquerware/Wood. H. of inro 7.4 cm; H. of netsuke 4.2 cm. The rounded rectangular body is decorated in gold and silver togidashi maki-e, featuring a tree and birds on one side, with the tree grove in the distance continuing to the other side, where a monk is depicted below. The interior of the inro is lacquered in black and gold. The inro is accompanied by a two-part manju netsuke, of which one part is missing. With traces of use.
