Description
A PAIR OF IRON-RED-DECORATED 'BAJIXIANG' STEM CUPS China, late Qing Dynasty Porcelain. H. 9.3 cm. The octagonal bowl is supported on a pedestal foot flaring at the base. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with 'ba ji xiang (the Eight Buddhist Emblems)', while the interior features three bats surrounding a circular 'shou' character. The interior of the base bears the mark 'Da Qing Dao Guang Nian Zhi'. With traces of age. Provenance: From an old private collection in the Lower Rhine region (Niederrhein).
