A WOOD NETSUKE OF A PROFESSIONAL SNEEZER Japan, 19th century Wood/bone. H. 3.9 cm. The netsuke is carved as a seated professional sneezer, wearing long robes and holding a small bone poker in one hand. His mouth is wide open, captured in the moment just before a sneeze. Signed 'Gyokkei' on an inset bone tablet on the bottom. With traces of age and use.
