AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A KAPPA ON A TORTOISE Japan, 19th century Ivory. H. 2.9 cm. The netsuke is finely carved as a kappa with a bemused expression, seated atop a tortoise, its long hair flowing down its back; the tortoise with its limbs tucked in for compactness, both with double-inlaid eyes. With traces of use and age, slightly abraded. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community. An export license is required for shipment to third countries. Please inform yourself about the current import regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell in your country.
