Description
A WALRUS TUSK CARVED NETSUKE OF KIYOHIME Japan, 19th century Walrus tusk/Wood. H. 4 cm. The netsuke is carved as Kiyohime, her serpentine body wrapped around the temple bell of Dojo-ji, inside which the priest Anchin is hiding-his face visible through an opening on one side. The handle of the bell can be turned to alternate between three expressions: two different faces of Anchin and a skull. Signed on the bottom. With traces of age and use, partially cracked.
