Description  
 	
	AN IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A SHISHI Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. H. 3.7 cm. The netsuke is carved as a lion seated with head turned to side and two forepaws resting on a ball. With traces of age and use, partially cracked and abraded. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
