Description
A FINE IVORY OKIMONO-NETSUKE OF A MONKEY WITH KAKI Japan, 19th century or later Ivory. H. 3.3 cm. The okimono-netsuke is finely carved as a seated monkey with mouth open in a look of surprise, inlaid eyes, the right hand supporting its chin, the left hand and right foot holding a persimmon, a long branch with a single leaf entwined over its back. Signed "Kimitomo" on the bottom. With traces of age, partially damaged and cracked. Provenance: From an old private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community.
