A FINE WOOD CARVED NETUSKE OF MONKEYS AND HORSE Japan, 19th century Wood. H. 4.8 cm. The netsuke is carved as a group of four monkeys trying to stop a galloping horse, while another monkey sitting on the horse's back, signed on the bottom "Kaigyoku". With traces of use, slightly chipped and abraded. Provenance: From an old private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
