Description
A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A GROUP OF MONKEYS Japan, 19th century Ivory. H. 4.2 cm. The netsuke is carved as a mother monkey holding a young monkey in her arms, turning her head as if lecturing it, with her other hand holding a monkey mask. The young monkey, with its palm up, reaches out for the monkey mask in the mother's hand. Below them, another young monkey curiously points at the mask. With traces of age and use, partially damaged and restored. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community. An export license is required for shipment to third countries. Please inform yourself about the current import regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell in your country. It is currently not possible to export ivory to the USA, Canada or England. This item is not legal to sell in the UK.
