Description
A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A RECUMBENT OX WITH BOY Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. L. 6.1 cm. The netsuke is carved as a reclining ox with inlaid eyes, its head turned to the right. A boy is holding the rope halter as he tries to climb onto the ox's back. The ox's spine is prominently carved, and there is a small basket on its left side. With traces of age and use, partially damaged. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community. An export license is required for shipment to third countries. Please inform yourself about the current import regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell in your country. It is currently not possible to export ivory to the USA, Canada or England. This item is not legal to sell in the UK.
