Verso: Vertically recessed packing. Partially and min: restored, with min: old retouching; a horizontal stress crack has been lightly restored. Frame. Accompanying expert report dated 23 March 2004 by Prof. Dr Jan Kelch (Gemäldegalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin), who considers an attribution to Simon de Vlieger and Cornelis Stooter unlikely and suggests that the work is by Jeronymus van Diest the Younger.
