ITALIAN SCHOOL, CIRCLE OF FRANCESCO ALBANI 17 March 1578 Bologna - October 1660 ibid. THE HOLY FAMILY WITH ANGELS Red chalk on greyish laid paper, red wash (?). 34 x 46 cm. Minor fold marks, small tear at right margin. Gently animated, multi-figured composition with idealised heads and soft modelling. The calm, lyrical conception and the graphic handling are closely connected with the Bolognese tradition around Guido Reni and Francesco Albani. Preparatory drawing for a devotional composition. Provenance: International private collection.
