GERMAN SCHOOL AROUND 1700 THE MARTYRDOM OF SAINT AGNES Oil on canvas (oval). 134 x 102 cm (F. 180 x 125 cm). Surface slightly wavy, in need of cleaning due to age. Original hand-carved frame from the early 18th century. According to the owners, the painting of the Martyrdom of St Agnes offered here was passed down within the family of the artist Franz von Kesselstatt via the Auxiliary Bishop Heimes. In an exhibition in the Cathedral and Diocesan Museum in Mainz on the role of the artist Franz von Kesselstatt, the role of the artist in the late Baroque city of Mainz was examined in more detail.
