SWISS WALL RELIEF 'LION OF LUCERNE' Switzerland, Brienz or Lucerne, circa 1890 Walnut, carved in relief. H. 27.5, W. 35, D. 5 cm; weight approx. 1.29 kg. Inscribed on the front: 'HELVETIORUM FIDEI AC VIRTUTI DIE X AUGUSTI II ET III SEPTEMBRIS MDCCXCII'. Rectangular relief with a recessed central panel depicting the dying lion resting upon two heraldic shields. Literature: Cf.
