Description
UNKNOWN SCULPTOR Active at the end of the 19th century. BUST 'PARSIFAL' Marble and alabaster, on a pedestal (H. 4 cm). Total height 32, width 27, W 16 cm, weight approx. 9.89 kg. Marked 'Parsifal' on the front. Full-relief representation of Parsifal as an idealized knight. The head is covered by a helmet, the face framed by a finely crafted chain mail shirt. A cloak lies over the armor, tied at the side on the shoulder. Parsifal, one of the central figures in the medieval Grail legend in Wagner's work, is loosely based on Wolfram von Eschenbach's medieval epic. Partially bumped, face with minimal traces of oxidation, base minimally dam.
